webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
I have no car to sell, I'm just interested with what they do with all the cars they buy.
Are they an auction house, are they a well known dealer buying stock or are they just shipping them out to dealers?
They seem to have sprung from nowhere with a huge ATL campaign so they must have large financial backing.Any info most welcome.
Thanks

Re: webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
They don't buy them. They pass your details to local dealers who come and kick the gyres and make every excuse for reducing the price. My mate did the Internet and was quoted 17000. When the brokers turned up they both offered 14000! Load of shite for the clueless and vulnerable.

They share a postcode and offices with these people: http://www.carcraft.co.uk/. So, probably the same holding group.

Carcraft are a massive company/group and have been in the motor trade for decades. The guy "behind it" was a self-made man from Rochdale, Lancashire and started off as a Lada franchise.
WBACDC do buy the cars and they retail most of them through the Carcraft group. Others go to "ex-lease" type retailers/dealers and/or through various auction houses.
If you have a late model "ready to retail" car then WBACDC is probably the easiest and best way of selling it.
Speaking from my three experiences and knowledge of the "trade".They will always have their knockers though as people think they it's odd that they only offer (say) 3000 for an E46 M3.
Clue: They don't want to buy your car.

Re: webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
Just for a laugh, I entered the reg of my newly acquire BMW M Sport on their web site.
The 'quote' they gave was laughable given the price of the same car in Carcraft. 9,000 isn't a bad mark up for them, now is it?
I know several people who have tried them and in each and every case they were offered substantially less than their original on-line quote once the car had been seen.
But then I guess the gullible will believe everything the see in the adverts.

I was going to advertise it privately for less than they offered me and when I delivered it there they paid exactly the same as their offer. Although this could be due to me having "described" it accurately. Which many people don't.

Re: webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
Just heard on R2 that the office of fair trading found 96% of sellers didn't get the price they were led to expect......
the man from wbacdc said "we accept we haven't got it right for all our customers"
I think what he means is he got it wrong for 96% of them

I was told they would not buy cars over 3 years old or had "excessive" mileage.

Re: webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
For most it's the lazy way to sell a car. It appeals to lazy people. The car will almost certainly be poorly presented the majority of the time. The service history will probably resemble a bit of swiss cheese.
Then people moan when they get a lower offer on the doorstep than it said on the internet where they described their car as perfect, and therefore got a top book quote for it.
How hard is to to wash and polish and spruce up a car. It can make a huge difference to what you are offered.
A full valet and repair of a couple of fag burns and even a dealer won't see much change out of 500 if they are lucky.

Re: webuyanycar.com - where do they sell all their cars?
I sold a car to them a few years back... an X-type jag which in fairness looked a lot tidier than it was.
It had a number of intermittent problems which made me feel guilty about trying to sell to the public...I'd already assumed that the 'valuation' was going to be massively overstated to try and get me there and that they'd try to rip me off, which they duly did (used some excuse about the paint being a lot thicker than it should be hence it had been resprayed!) to reduce the price. Eventually, I got a price I wasn't too upset with and the process wasn't too painful.
Provided you go into the transaction knowing who you're dealing with I can't see the problem. The only bit I really regret is that in some small way I helped to fund those f&*%^g annoying advents on Dave.

After giving an online valuation, I`m told their staff are on commission to knock the price down as far as possible and use any minor defect as an excuse to do so. They are preying on the desperate sellers who need the money.

Took a car along to them once and despite being totally honest about condition was offer just over half their online quote. Complete waste of time as far as I was concerned.
